  • Hypervizor members,
We're building a new network which will consist of VMware, EMC CX4-120 iSCSI SAN, Dell servers and Cisco Switches. We'd like to have expert opinions on our plan here http://XenMaster.com/VMWareEMCDatacenter.aspx

    Objective:
    Fully redundant & Highly Available.

    Questions that come to mind:
    1. Should we use RAID 5 for the Virtual Guest OS'? Our preference is RAID 10.
    2. What is the recommended stripe size for the LUNs within these RAID groups.

    Thank you

Do you have anything that focuses on Storage. Whether NFS, iSCSI, or FC?

    Hi Hany,
Robert Decker introduced me to your work. They're amazing. They are informative and very detailed. Thanks for sharing. I personally enjoy looking at these diagrams. They help me (literally) connect the dot and give me some ideas through coming up with my own design. I have just started a new project and have the network layed out. I would love to have yours and your visitor's feedback. I'd post the URL here but a bit hesitant to do so because I'd like to have your approval first. Please email me if you have the time to have a quick glance. I also have some ideas about your site that I want to share with you. Thanks.

What Stencils / Shapes are you using for your diagrams? Any chance you can share those?!

    Hey Hany,

The diagram are absolutely great technical layout for virtualization. Is there a way you can share then diagrams in Visio so that l can modify and use them in my projects?
  • Miec Rhys
    Hi Hany,
I'm new to Virtualisation, excellent technical diagrams by the way! What did you use to create them and how do I gain the knowledge to become experienced in SAN/Blade technology without using the technology each day? I do not have a photographic memory, which, I guess you do?

  • Hi Miec, I use MS Visio 2003 to design my diagrams. As per the SAN & Blade servers knowledge, this would be tricky without hands-on, but the internet is full of tutorials and google would be your best friend here :)

    Thanks

Is it possible to buy the sources of your diagrams.
I am interested in vSphere 4.0 vNetwork Distributed Switch (vDS) Architecture Diagram.

  • Sorry David, i don't sell my diagrams, but thank you very much for your interest :)

    Hi Hany,

  • Yes, it’s coming :) – thanks for your interest
